Heritage

The parish of Inniscarra has a rich and colourful history, and we want to use this part of the website to gather as much historical information together, in association with a proposed Heritage Museum which will be on display in time for the Discover Inniscarra Celebration which will be held in June 2013.

This is where we need your help - stories of the past and present, together with pictures, that we can use to publish here as full a historical record of our home that we can, for the benefit of present and future members of our society. Pictures will be scanned and returned to you immediately.

I have started this off with histories of Dripsey Woollen Mills and the Inniscarra Dam, which are not definitive and I would be pleased to hear from anyone who would like to add anything further to these, or to include other historical information about Inniscarra Parish and its people.

The Heritage Museum organisers want to hear from you if you can provide artefacts and antiquities which can be included - anything that will invoke memories of the past, from kitchen utensils to farm implements and old photographs.

Send your stories and pictures to us and see them published here. Hard copy pictures will be scanned and returned to you immediately.
