Dripsey Hurling & Football Club
Located at the western end of Inniscarra parish, Dripsey Hurling and Football Club was founded in 2005 by six players, all of whom were in their early twenties.
The Adult section of the club caters for the following teams: Minor, Under 21, Junior and Intermediate Hurling and Minor, Under 21, Junior ‘A’ and Junior ‘C’ Football. Our juvenile section caters for all age groups from Under 8 up to Under 16 in both codes.
Pride of place goes to our Junior hurlers who won the Muskerry, County and Munster titles in 2008 and rounded off a superb campaign with an All-Ireland victory over Kilkenny Champions Tullogher-Rosbercon in Croke Park in February 2009. Other notable achievements in our short history include three hurling league titles and one football league success at Junior level in the Muskerry Division together with championship wins at Under-21 level in both codes.
Our Under-21 footballers won a county title (eleven-a-side) in 2008 while our Under-14 and Under-15 teams also added to the silverware cabinet with successes in 2007 and 2008.
A Ladies Football section was set up in 2007. This section of the club continues to flourish and they were rewarded with a County Junior football title in 2008.
The club colours are red and blue - red representing our county and blue representing our parish.
Last year’s hurling captain Diarmuid O’Riordan has represented his county at Minor Hurling, Minor Football and Intermediate Hurling levels, while John Carey and Mark O’Sullivan have won Munster Intermediate Hurling medals already this year and hopefully they will taste further success before the year ends.
