George Williams' Story
Born in 1927 in Carrignaveen House, where his family have lived for many years. After leaving school, George worked in the Insurance business until retiring in 1971 in order to pursue his dream of breeding racing horses.
Of his horses, successes included Captain Christie, winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 1974, and Another Dolly, which won the Queen Mother’s Champion Race in 1978. Both horses were sired by Mon Capetaine, a champion sire bred in France and bought by George for his stud at Carrignaveen.
